1. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Invested Enterprise LLC ("Doclerk," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and Service. It applies to account holders, authorized users, and visitors to our marketing site. Doclerk is designed for law firms and legal professionals operating in the United States, and your data is stored and processed within the United States.

2. Information We Collect

Category Examples
Account information Name, work email, firm/organization, role
Case content Documents you upload (PDF, DOCX, EML, TIFF, PNG, JPEG) and metadata generated from them
Usage data Pages visited, features used, log and device data
Communications Support requests, feedback, survey responses
Billing information Processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers

3. How We Use Information

  • To provide, maintain, and secure the Service.
  • To process, classify, file, and index documents you upload.
  • To respond to support requests and account inquiries.
  • To send service updates and, where permitted, product communications.
  • To monitor for fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

4. AI Processing of Your Content

Doclerk uses AI models, including models provided by OpenAI and Anthropic, to classify, index, summarize, and answer questions about the documents you upload ("Your Content"), including detecting visual elements (such as signatures or redactions) in scanned or image-based files. Where your organization configures its own AI provider credentials, Your Content is sent directly to that provider using those credentials. Your Content is processed to deliver the Service to you and is not used to train models shared across other customers without your consent. You remain the owner of Your Content at all times.

5. Customer Responsibility for Third-Party Data

Your Content may include personal information about third parties, such as your clients, witnesses, or opposing parties. With respect to that information, we act solely as a service provider processing data on your behalf and according to your instructions - you are the party responsible for determining what may be uploaded and for having the necessary legal basis, consent, or authority to do so.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • AI model providers (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) to process and analyze Your Content as described above.
  • Cloud hosting providers (e.g., Microsoft Azure) who store and run the Service's infrastructure under confidentiality and security obligations.
  • Optional user-connected storage (e.g., Google Drive), only if you choose to configure it as a filing destination.
  • Legal authorities when required by law, subpoena, or legal process. Where legally permitted, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to notify you before disclosing your data, unless notice is prohibited by law, court order, or would compromise an investigation.
  • Successor entities in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice to you.

7. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies to operate the Service (e.g., authentication) and optional analytics cookies to understand usage. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings or our cookie preference tool, where available.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and monitoring, to protect your information. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your data, we will notify you without undue delay. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Data Retention

We retain account and case information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Upon account closure, we delete or anonymize your data within 90 days, except where retention is required by law or active legal process.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal information.
  • Export your data in a portable format.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.

To exercise these rights, contact us at [contact email]. We will respond within the time required by applicable state law (e.g., CCPA/CPRA).

11. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for business use by legal professionals and is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated via the Service or email at least 14 days before taking effect.
